I. Expectations: 1. Do not talk or leave your seat while the teacher is talking. 2. Work on you math assignment until finished and turn the assignment in. 3. Bring your materials to class and be on time. 4. Respect others and their property. 5. Score 70% or higher on the tests and quizzes.

II. Grading Scale: A, 90-100%; B, 80-89.5%; C, 70-79.5%; D, 60-69.5%; F, below 60%; The teacher will use the Easy Grade Pro computer program and regularly update students on their progress and percentage of points.

III. Math Assignments: Chapter Tests will be worth 100 points. Students receiving less than 70% can take a make-up test (a different version) before school in room 115. Chapter Assignment Packets (including the Chapter Notes, Warm Ups and Book work) are worth 100 points. Students getting less than 70 points will be eligible to turn a corrected packet in within 3 school days and receive a higher grade on the packet.

IV. Algebra 2 Essential Learnings: Algebra 2 builds on the skills and concepts learned in Algebra 1 and Geometry. Algebra 2 is a required course for those students who want to attend a four year college. Beginning with the class of 2012, it will be a required class for high school graduation in the LAUSD. The essential learnings for Algebra 2A are: EL 1- Solve and graph systems of linear equations and inequalities including absolute value 2. EL 2 - Factor, solve and graph quadratic equations. EL-3 Solve, graph and perform basic operations on polynomials. EL 4- Solve, graph and perform the basic operations on rational expressions. For Algebra 2B, the ELs are: EL 5- Solve, graph and evaluate radical equations EL 6. - Solve and graph exponential and logarithmic equations. E7- Identify and graph conics.

V. Final Exams: Departmental final exams will be given at the close of each semester. They will consist of multiple choice questions and be worth 200 points.


VI. Math Books: Each student will be issued an Algebra 2 book. If the issued book is not returned, the student will be charged the price of the book.
