Careers with children integrates related class instruction, on the job training, and leadership development. Students have the opportunity to work with others, gain and understanding of the business economy, manage real life situations, and make intelligent occupational choices in addition to gaining skills for employment. The major emphasis of this year long, double period vocational course is to develop the knowledge and the skills necessary for employment as teachers and aides in children’s’ centers, preschools, recreational facilities, kindergartens, and elementary schools. Course standards and Expected School wide Learning results taught include laws governing child care services, types of child care facilities, health, safety, and nutritional needs of children. Instructional also emphasizes the developmental needs of children and positive method of guiding children’s behavior. Job training is an on site preschool provides opportunities for observing, planning, organizing, and conducting daily routine and curriculum activities for young children.
