Description
Stagecraft is designed to acquaint you with the basic backstage skills required to plan and produce scenery, lighting, and sound for the theatre. Also, this course will introduce the student to the production facilities, operations, methods, and techniques used at Sylmar High School, and to relate these practices to those used in professional, amateur, and other educational theaters. The course will deal briefly with the history of the physical stage and its equipment and then will cover the fundamentals set, light, and sound production, along with stage management and public relations. The end goal of this class is class participation in Sylmar’s two productions during the year. Although all students cannot help with every performance, and there are other important and vital tasks in the theater, it is expected that each student make his or her primary objective to help with the Sylmar High School productions. Therefore, participation in all class exercises and out of class performances is expected.
