The main goal of this course is to advance students’ previous skills in American Sign Language (ASL); the visual-gestural language of the Deaf community. This course incorporates verbal communication techniques. Also, basic, intermediate, and advanced vocabulary, grammar and conversational skills will be covered. Deaf culture and history is also an important part of this course. This course is aligned to the State Foreign Language Standards, meets the level 2 foreign language requirement for graduation and partially fulfills the UC/CSU Minimum Foreign Language Eligibility Requirement.

Final will be 10 fingerspelled words followed by several stories. Each story will have 5-10 questions.

Expressive + receptive = 100points.
You will be graded on clear and correct signing, as well as use of ASL gammar and word order.
Deductions for:
Talking (-3 for each occurance)
Excessive looking at notes / breaking eye contact (-5)
Each day refusing to sign (-10)
+3 bounus for having the handout at time of exam.
This will NOT be videotaped.
