Sylmar Charter High School has been awarded the 2026 California PBIS Silver Recognition Award, honoring the school's successful implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

The Silver designation is awarded to schools that demonstrate strong schoolwide systems for promoting positive behavior, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment, and using data-driven practices to support student success. Schools earning this recognition achieve at least a 70% score on Tier 1 PBIS implementation measures and meet rigorous state evaluation requirements.

This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, families, and PBIS team in fostering a positive school culture where all Spartans can thrive.

Mr. Meza’s impact at SCHS is immeasurable. His servant leadership style permeates every school setting, and he seeks to help both students and staff make positive contributions to our school community. Mr. Meza’s influence on our school culture with Link Crew sponsors, leaders, and mentees has contributed greatly to making Sylmar Charter High School a welcoming and supportive environment for all. For the 2025-2026 school year, 126 Senior Scholars earned the Seal of Biliteracy Honors!  The LAUSD and California Sate Seals of Biliteracy recognize high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing one or more languages in addition to English. Please click on the headline for more information!

The Sylmar Charter High School Science Tech Math Magnet School has been named a National Merit School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools. To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme. Please click on the headline for additional details!
