*ABC – Clio – History and social studies – search American Government for the extensive civil rights collection. Great for primary sources, media sources and lesson ideas.

 

*American National Biography –Great source for information on important people in American history. Suggested - Research Packs (linked articles on specific subjects)

 

Encyclopedia Britannica – A comprehensive encyclopedia. Search at the level ‘3 tab’ for a more focused search. Check out articles, images and Web’s Best Sites.   

 

The Columbia Gazetteer of the World – Another site that focuses on geography. Entries include histories for each country.

 

Culture Grams – A good reference guide to cultural information on the countries of the world. Use both World and Kids Editions. The Kids Edition provides outline and detailed PDF maps and flags

 

Ebsco Host – Search engine that provides access to journal articles, image collections and other great resources. (Includes Point of View, Consumer Health Complete, History Reference Center, Academic Search Premier.)

 

Facts on File – Covers many topics including history and geography. Helpful links: US Government Online, Issues and Controversies, and African American History Online.
